I had a fundraising event at my work for the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. We donated half of our tips and a portion of sales to the Red Cross. Many friends and family came and tipped very generously, but strangers also tipped big and kept thanking us. At the end of the night, our accordion player gave us ALL of his tips from the evening. He had played live music all night. We hadn’t even asked him to participate in donating. I knew he had a baby girl, and I knew that he could use every penny of his tips for his family, but he still managed to give us all of it. I ran downstairs and cried a little.
